Skye Silks produces high quality artisan silk textiles.
Jaine Mahon has her handweaving studio on the edge of Dunvegan overlooking MacLeods Tables on the Isle of Skye.

Inspired by the colours of the ever changing landscape, Skye Silks offers scarves and other silk textiles which have been hand dyed and hand woven as well as a range of Arashi Shibori silk scarves.  Arashi Shibori is a Japanese resist dyeing technique which creates pleates in the fabric.

Jaine has over 30 years of experience of handweaving, dyeing and also spinning, has exhibited her work nationally and also teaches.

Jaine weaves on a Scandinavian Toika 8 shaft floor loom, a Schacht Baby Wolf floor loom and a Louet 8 shaft table loom for samples and smaller projects

The yarns are all hand dyed using painting, dip dye, resist and vat dye techniques producing unique colours combinations ensuring that the items produced are one-off.
