Four shaft handweaving course suitable for beginners. Tuition from Jaine at Skye Silks Handweaving Studio in Dunvegan with self catering accomodation in Lochbay House, Stein. Max 6 students.
Arrival at Lochbay House from Saturday 28th March 2020, Tuition 10am-4pm Sunday-Friday with one free day in the week for sightseeing or extra studio time. Departure by 10am Saturday 4th April 2020.
All materials provided, includes use of all necessary equipment. Tea, coffee, cakes and cookies.
The course will cover all the basics to learn to weave on a 4 shaft table loom including choosing yarns, making the warp, beaming on, threading the heddles, sleying the reed, tieing on, basic weaves, understanding yarn counts and weave diagrams, finishing techniques.
Accomodation is in the historic Lochbay House in nearby Stein which has been newly renovated. Double and twin rooms are available some with en-suite, others with shared bathroom. Shared large lounge diner, kitchen and utility areas. Plenty of parking on site.
Course cost is £450 which covers tuition (5 days) and accomodation (7 nights). Deposit of £150 required on booking, balance payable 6 weeks beforehand (15th February). Please contact me for options of rooms available.
